Tributes to Carol Lawrence
Carol Lawrence, founder of the Reading Circle and long-time INtouch volunteer, sadly died on Friday 20th June. We are dedicating this edition of the Reading Circle to her.
Carol was an intelligent, thoughtful, hard-working and determined lady. Over the years that I knew her, she became a real inspiration and a great friend. It was a pleasure to see how much she achieved through her work with the Reading Circle, and to know how much enjoyment she got from doing it.
I thought that her death would leave us facing a terrible dilemma about what to do with the Reading Circle now that she's gone. In reality, it has been a very easy decision, as everyone's made it quite clear that they want the group to keep going. It also seems obvious to me now that Carol always intended to leave behind a thriving group that could fend for itself in her absence.
I'd like to say thank you to all our members for your kind words and continuing support. We will be back next month with a new reading selection and your latest contributions. The Reading Circle is Carol's legacy, and I hope that together we can do her justice.
Diane
