West Yorkshire Built In Quality Awards 2006


Following on from last years success the second West Yorkshire Built in Quality Awards has been organised.


The final will be a "black tie" event at Bagden Hall Hotel, Scissett, Huddersfield.

At the event all finalists will receive a certificate of recognition and the winner of each category a winner's trophy, fund raising will take place for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and guests will be entertained by top local comedian Lea Roberts.

The number of categories has increased this year to seven with the introduction of a "sustainability" award.

The categories are;

  1. Domestic Extensions
  2. New Dwellings
  3. More than 10 units
  4. Less than ten units
  5. Restoration and Conversion Projects
  6. Commercial Developments
  7. Community Projects
  8. Sustainability

The closing date for entries for the 2006 awards was April 28th 2006, a panel of judges made up of representatives from each of the West Yorkshire Local Authorities.  After judging three schemes from each category will be invited to the finals at Bagden Hall.

Once the judging has taken place strict secrecy on the outcome will be upheld to ensure a success of the awards night.

This year's awards have been sponsored by YBS Insulations, McMillan Scott Publishing, Arco and Barbour Index.

The Five Kirklees contenders with entries already lodged are:

  1. RBC Construction, Holmfirth - Domestic Extension Category, for the development at Glen Farm, Farnley Tyas
  2. Binn Cottages, Slaithwaite - Domestic Extension Category, for the glazed extension at Binn Cottages.
  3. One17PM - New Dwellings (less than ten units) Category for the dwellings at Bank Lane, Holmbridge.
  4. Termrim Construction, Restoration and Conversion Category, for the Mill conversions at Wildspur Mills, New Mill.
  5. Amec Group - Community Projects Category - for the Batley Health Centre.
