building.control@kirklees.gov.uk

Security operatives including door supervisors must ensure that they are licensed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

The SIA is an independent body set up by the Government under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001.
The Act confirms that you will need a licence if you are responsible for security, protection, screening the suitability of people entering premises or dealing with conflict in pubs, clubs and other licensed premises open to the public.

Anyone involved in door supervision, whether under contract or employed in-house will need a licence.  This includes employees, managers, supervisors and directors of security companies.

A licence application pack can be requested electronically or by telephone using the following contacts:-

website:   www.the-sia.org.uk.

telephone:   0870 2430 100.
