Kirklees Council produce regular statistics on the local economy and labour market and uses these to predict trends, draft strategies, make forecasts for the local area and plan initiatives and projects. Below you will find the Kirklees Integrated Investment Strategy, drafted in December 2010, and the 2010 Kirklees Economic Assessment draft.

Latest unemployment statistics

December 2010 update

The number of people claiming jobseekers allowance increased by 181 between November and December, which is an increase of 2%. However, the number remains lower than this time last year.


At ward level, most of the increases were concentrated in North Kirklees. North Kirklees also continued to have the highest levels of unemployed under 25 year olds.


Unemployment figures are based on the number of people claiming job seekers' allowance (JSA).
