Catherine Harrison - Principal Children and Families Social Worker & Quality Assurance Manager

Calling on social workers and senior practitioners

Are you looking for your next career move? Then look no further. Help us achieve our ambition to provide excellent services to children and young people. In late 2015 we identified the need to change the way we delivered our services and began our improvement journey. Following our Ofsted Inspection in October 2016 we are continuing our mission to improve our services and create the conditions for success - making sure we put in place the right support, training and development that staff need and deserve. So we want the very best people in social work to join us.

We are looking for social workers who have completed their ASYE and experienced social workers/senior practitioners who have the motivation to get on board and make a positive difference to children, young people and their families. We are also looking for experienced, highly motivated Team Managers who can lead a team through service change, are passionate about their own and others continuous professional development and can focus on managing their team better so we achieve better outcomes for children and young people. If you would like to have a chat to me about the opportunities we have available book a call and I'll get back to you.

As someone who has worked as a social worker for over 20 years I know the importance of job satisfaction and a positive work life balance as well as the importance of self-development. I know that the social work role is complex and challenging, but equally rewarding and that all practitioners need the appropriate resources to fulfil their role. That's why we have commissioned the implementation of a new IT system, we are becoming an agile and mobile workforce and we investing in our workforce.

We are part of a Teaching Partnership with the University of Huddersfield and University of York enabling us to offer a wide range of continuous professional development opportunities. We also offer in-house training provision and themed workshops throughout the year ensuring that we cover specific areas of work, which will support and benefit you and the children and young people you work with. We will provide you with an induction, regular reflective supervision, a development plan specific to your individual needs and an appraisal so that we can give you continuous feedback on your performance.

Working with Leeds Childrens Services, our Partner in Practice, we are continuing to review and refresh our career development framework and we will provide you with appropriate training and support to embed restorative practice in your social work practice. Our Legal Project Officers can support you with court work and our Advanced Practitioners with their extensive knowledge of social work theory and relevant child care legislation provide coaching and mentoring to staff to support their professional development.

We will appoint at the appropriate grade/salary taking into account your existing social work experience and qualifications. So go on get in touch and find out more - it could be the best move you ever make - it was for me!
