Information

This was the consultation draft version of the Highways Design SPD. The adopted version can be found on the Adopted Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) page.

The Highway Design Guide SPD aims to promote high standards of highway design that reflect nationally recognised best-practice, and facilitate the delivery of high quality residential, employment and mixed-use developments in Kirklees. This SPD is relevant to all aspects of the built environment. It will help encourage good design in terms of how developments, routes and spaces relate to one another to create streets and public spaces that are safe, accessible, and pleasant to use. The SPD will be used by the council to help reach decisions on whether to approve or refuse planning applications.

The council has determined that the Highway Design SPD is not likely to have significant environmental effects and accordingly a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is not required for the SPD. The reasons for this decision are set out in the SEA Determination Statement and the SEA Screening Statement.
