The University of Huddersfield's new £27.5 million facility for the Law School and the School of Music, Humanities and Media is under construction and scheduled for completion in April 2017. It will be named the Oastler Building in tribute to local reformer Richard Oastler, known as The Factory King, who campaigned to improve working conditions in the new factories of the Industrial Revolution.
The six-storey, 82,000 sq ft development is the latest in a series of construction projects for the University, which has spent more than £250 million on its expanding and updated Queensgate campus.
The institution was awarded the Times Higher Education University of the Year 2013, and two years later was named the New University of the Year at the Educate North Awards. Excelling in enterprise and innovation, the University was the Times Higher Education Entrepreneurial University of the Year in 2012.
