Regeneration of historic mill buildings into a contemporary urban village on the edge of Batley town centre is well advanced. The conservation scheme by award-winning company Binks Developments Ltd encompasses residential apartments, new-build housing and retail opportunities.
Conversion of the Spinning House, Garden House, Sugar Mill, Weaving House and Jubilee Mill has already produced 155 apartments. Work on Blakeridge Mill, The Pavilion and a new building called The Chocolate Box is in progress and will result in another 210 residential units and 365 homes overall. There will also be a gym and leisure pool.
Up to 2.75 acres of development land is for sale and currently under offer. In March 2018, the council resolved to grant planning permission for 42,500 sq ft (net trading area) of retail divided into three units.
