Redevelopment of historic mill buildings into a contemporary urban village is currently underway. The conservation scheme by award-winning company Binks Developments Ltd encompasses residential apartments, new-build housing and retail opportunities.
Completion of 80 apartments in the Spinning House, Garden House, Sugar Mill and Weaving House was followed by the conversion of the Jubilee Mill to another 75 units in 2015. Work on constructing 93 apartments in Blakeridge Mill, which will also feature a swimming pool and gym, and 13 units in a new building called The Chocolate Box, began in 2016.
Up to 2.75 acres of adjoining development land is for sale. There is recently secured planning permission for a new food store with petrol filling station, and previous consent for housing. Other uses may be possible, subject to planning permission.
