What are "Keep Clear" road markings for ?
"Keep Clear" markings are used to indicate to drivers where the highway should be kept clear of waiting or parked vehicles. The purpose of this is to allow access to side roads or business and private entrances.

Traffic queuing from traffic lights often blocks my entrance. Can anything be done to prevent this ?
"Keep Clear" markings are often used in this situation. An assessment is required by an Highways Officer. Please complete the service request form and send the details to us.

My neighbours are constantly parking across my drive and blocking my access. Can anything be done to help ?
If you cannot gain access to your property, either business or private, because of inconsiderate parking then obstruction has been caused and can be dealt with by the police. Alternatively, markings can be placed on the highway to highlight the access. Whilst these marking are not legally enforceable they can be very effective. A charge of £146 is made for this type of marking. Assessment is required by an Highways officer before these markings can be used. For further information please complete the service request form and send the details to us.

Can I apply for a "Keep Clear" marking ?
Yes, although the application will be assessed by a Highways officer to see if a "Keep Clear" marking is appropriate. Where markings are provided a charge of £146 is payable by the applicant. For further information please complete the service request form and send the details to us.
