Who is responsible for stiles?
Stiles are the responsibility of the landowner.

Can a stile be repaired or replaced?
The Public Rights of Way unit will contact the landowner and if necessary offer a stile kit for them to install. If you wish to report a stile that needs repairing please provide the relevant details by completing the service request form.
Can the design of a stile be changed if it is difficult to use?
The landowners will be requested to alter the stile if necessary. To make a request for this enter the relevant details on the service request form.

The stile is difficult to use - can it be replaced with a gate?
In certain circumstances, such as where animals are not present, replacing stiles with gates will be considered in consultation with the landowner concerned. To request this please provide details on the service request form.
