Ploughing

Highways ROSS - August 2008
highways.ross@kirklees.gov.uk

The farmer has ploughed up a path - can the Council do something?

Farmers have the right to plough fields and paths that cross those fields. The path must be reinstated and marked out within 14 days of the first disturbance. If there is a second disturbance of the same path then the path must be reinstated within 24 hours. Paths that follow field edges must not be disturbed during ploughing. If you wish to report a path that has been ploughed please complete the service request form.

With regards to crops is in an offence to allow crops to grow on or obstruct the right of way.
