Who can join a Credit Union?
You must live or work in Kirklees to become a member, or be associated with one of the following churches:
  • St Brigids in Paddock
  • St Patricks in Huddersfield
  • Churches in the Dewsbury Deanery
  • Children under 16 years can join as regular savers
Become a volunteer
You can volunteer to help to run your Credit Union, learn some new skills and make new friends
How do I join a Credit Union?
Call into one of the local offices or collection points and complete an application form

You must bring two forms of identification with you as listed below (one form must have your current address and the other your current signature):
  • Passport
  • Full Driving Licence
  • A recent utility bill (electricity, gas, water etc.)
  • Benefit Book
  • Council Tax
This list is an example of some of the identification taken. If you don't have any of the above items please ask your credit union.

You must pay in at least £1.00 to become a member of the credit union.

Application for Junior Membership
Children under 16 years old can become Junior savers. Junior savers can only use the Credit Union for savings.

If you would like to open a junior account, call into one of the local offices or collection points and fill in an application form.

Payment can be made either by standing order through the guardians account, deducted from guardians payroll, or paid directly into one of the Credit Union Offices or at the collection points. Some schools now run collection points for Junior savers.

You must bring one form of identification with you as listed below:
  • Birth Certificate or
  • Passport
If the trustee of your account is not a credit union member, they must also prove their identity using one of the forms of identification listed above.

Which Credit Union can I join?
If you live or work in Kirklees you can join the Castle and Minster Credit Union.

There are also a number of local Credit Unions you can also choose from. Each Credit Union has a Common Bond. The Common Bond is a requirement which all members must meet to join the Credit Union.

The local credit unions are listed below with their common bonds. They are;

All Saints (Batley) Credit Union Ltd

Common Bond – open to the Parishioners of the Dewsbury Deanery.

Borough and Parish Community Credit Union Ltd
Dewsbury Common Bond – open to anyone who lives or works in Dewsbury, Mirfield or Thornhill.

St Brigid's Save Credit Union Ltd, Paddock
Common Bond – open to the Parishioners and Friends of the Church in Paddock.

St Patrick's Save and Credit Union Ltd, Huddersfield
Common Bond – open to Members and Friends of St Patrick's RC Church and Club.

If you don't live or work in Kirklees, you can find out about your local Credit Union by visiting www.abcul.org.

Where will I find my local Credit Union?
There are a number of local Credit Unions. They are;


All Saints Credit Union Ltd, Batley
Open to the parishioners of the Dewsbury Deanery. Members and friends of the churches in the Deanery, their associated social clubs and members of the Irish Democratic League clubs in the area.
