Does the council own or manage any business or enterprise centres? The council owns and manages nine business and enterprise centres across Kirklees. The centres are based in Batley, Dewsbury, Heckmondwike and Huddersfield. Units are available for office, industrial, catering and retail use and range in size. What facilities do the centres offer? The centres offer 'easy-in, easy-out' terms, inclusive rents, reception and secretarial services, meeting rooms for hire, 24 hour access, good security, on-site parking and disabled access. (Please note some of the facilities are not available at every centre.) What are the benefits for start-up businesses? Incubation offices are available to rent in Batley and Dewsbury. They are available with graduated rents and include on-site support from specialist business advisors and a dedicated on-site management team who can offer secretarial and reception services. Batley Business Park, Bretton Street Enterprise Centre and Ray Street Enterprise Centre offer a virtual mailbox service. Do they offer business support services for people who run their business from home? As well as the virtual mailbox service at Batley Business Park and Bretton Street Enterprise Centre also provide hot-desking facilities. And for new design businesses, Bretton Street offers a fully kitted sewing room that can be rented on a short- term basis. There are also hot-desking facilities available in Dewsbury. These services will benefit home businesses that occasionally need a professional office space, access to conference and meeting room facilities and a business address.
